Offer to Sing at the Lincoln Center New York

Well folks, this is the path we have embarked on. I expect more of this kind of attention. We will need to think very hard about which opportunities are best for the kids and our community.
We have been invited to participate in a children’s choir festival in New York next February. The event organizers saw our video and called me to requested we audition for the event. I wouldn’t usually share this kind of thing with you at this stage but I want to show you the path we have begun. The composer Bob Chilcott http://www.dciny.org/2011-guest-conductors/chilcott-bob.html is the conductor and clinician for this three day event. The event organizers are Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY). There would be a half day rehearsal on Feb 18 and 19, 2011 a dress rehearsal and concert on February 20,2011 and a reception to follow. We would have to hire a separate tour company to handle the travel and accommodations. The cost of the festival is not cheap. There are only spots open for around 175 singers. The cost per person just for the festival is $640 each. That is a lot of fundraising, grant writing and corporate sponsorship to accomplish. Again I would not usually share this with you until I had priced out the whole thing and sought funding sources so don’t panic, just be proud that our kids have caught the attention of the world and it is shining on them. Bravo!

I am laughing and getting misty-eyed at the same time as I am telling my husband about this incredible news!! I just thought that it would be nice for my daughter to expand her horizons a little so asked if she wanted to join the school choir…didn’t know it might include the NEW YORK skyline!!

This is awesome! I say go for it! We’ll work hard to raise some money…lot’s of ideas-and, if we try to form a “board” as discussed awhile back, no reason why we shouldn’t be able to pull together in an effort to make this work:) I’m in!
